About Scandia

Scandia Auto Service started business on February 20th, 1989. Jim Haughey opened the business as a sole proprietor and at that point there were no employees and Jim did the paperwork, the mechanical work, cleaned the floors, took out the garbage and still had time to stand around and try to understand the meaning of life. He still does all these things but now there are four others to help stand around and understand the meaning of life. Just kidding, they all work very hard and don't have much idle time. The first year of business was pretty lean but Scandia did manage to pay all the bills and actually show a profit of $500 dollars.

Scandia Auto Service became a corporation on August 1st, 1991. Scandia continues to grow by specializing in just Volvos, which allows them to fix problems in an expeditious manner and also keep their prices about 20% below dealer levels. They usually keep appointment bookings to within two days of your call and often take emergencies the same day. But what really draws customers to Scandia is the level of communication between employees and customers. You don't get channeled into a funnel and forced out the other end like at dealerships. You can and probably will talk to the technician working on your car. Scandia is dependent upon your repeat business and your referrals; they do not sell new cars to generate new customers. Specializing in Volvos also allows Scandia Auto Service to focus its assets in such a way that customers receive maximum benefit. To fix your Volvo, technicians need special tools specific to your Volvo. Scandia buys and continues to buy the special tools from Volvo that are required to do the job right. They also have a full set of factory technical manuals and receive the factory service bulletins to stay up to date with the latest fixes and changes. Most of the people at Scandia came from the dealer network and maintain their ties with the local dealers.

Scandia is pleased to announce they are now a AAA Approved Auto Repair facility. They passed a rigorous shop inspection and customer satisfaction survey to qualify and are honored that their customers rated them so high. Jim started the business because he has a natural knack for fixing cars but the real satisfaction for Scandia's employees comes from pleasing you, the Volvo owner. Scandia Auto Service is celebrating its 10th year in business and invites you to come say hello by using one of their introductory specials or just stop in and say hello. You won't be disappointed.
